The story of Father Christmas is inspired by St-Nicholas who was according to the Alsacian legend was accompanied by Father Fouettard and people say that he would give coal, onions, potatoes to the naughty children while the good St-Nicholas would give lollies to the well behaved children .Santa suits colour was supposedly derived from St Nicholas' traditional bishops' dresses which were all a variation of white and red. In 1822 an american pastor wrote the first Santa story depicting Santa distributing presents to children and flying on his sleigh pulled by eight reindeers.
