Resources For Teaching Languages Online

Teaching online is becoming a great and flexible way to work for teachers and students looking at saving time travelling and having more work flexibility. I have been teaching French online for a few years now and I have found tons of resources online through research and in participating in different groups online such as Facebook group called Ultimate support for online tutor which is run by Joanne Kaminski. Teaching online requires having a platform and Zoom is my favourite platform along with Bitpaper,and they can be used independently. Some tutors also use microphones and lights but if you are starting off you can use a tablet or a computer or even a mobile phone and the Zoom platform. Below is a list of different sites and tools that are available for teachers and students of all ages to use. The resources are available for children and adults. Teaching French online is a fun way to teach and learn whilst giving you the ability to reach students all over the world.

  1. Digital dialects is an interactive site to learn different languages and covers different themes such as vocabulary , grammar and phrase structure .This website has several audio and visual games to help the students practise the language.

  2. Logiciel educatif is an interactive website with different level of language and different games.

  3. Book creator is a digital bookmaking site. The students can create their own digital books with own images or drawing ,text,links to other sites and own voice audio recording.

  4. Quizlet is an interactive platform where a teacher creates their own flashcards and quizzes online.

  5. Language Guide has some audio vocabulary and phrases and texts in a different languages.

  6. Duolingo Stories provides many audio stories and exercises online.

  7. Boom cards learning helps you create flashcards online games.

  8. The Fable cottage has many bilingual stories in different languages

    2. TV5 monde Enseigner provides many videos with transcript and some pdf files for students and teachers.

    3. The French podcast is a website with a great number of audio conversations available with transcript.

    4. Fluent key is a new one for me but looks interesting as it provides some videos with subtitles in different languages as well as interactive comprehension games for students. and can be use for The Ci input teaching Compelling and Comprehensible Input based on Dr Stephen Krashen research.

    5. Edpuzzle is a free assessment - centered tool to allow student and teacher to create online videos and create quizzes and comprehension questions about the videos.

    6. Loom is a site that allows to create and share quick videos

    7. Screencast-o-matic is site to create your own videos and share them online

    8. Educaplay makes you create your own educational games and activities

    9. Educandy is also a site where you can create interactive games in minutes

    10. Flipgrid allows teachers to create grids to facilitate videos discussions where teachers can pose questions.

    11. Flippity to easily turn Google Spreadsheets into a set of online flashcards and other cool stuff

    12. Alice Ayel has a membership website which has plenty of videos to help students learn French using comprehensible input strategy.

    14. Kahoot is a game based learning platform for interactive learning

    15. Quizizz is a free gamified quizzes for every subject to play in class or at home.

    16. Scratch is a free programming language and online community where you can create your own online games and stories

    17. Realtimeboard allows board collaboration.

    18. Lyricstraining where you can learn a language with music and filling in blanks for the song lyrics.
